MD/PhD Mentorship Symposium

The University of Toronto’s MD/PhD Program is holding its annual Mentorship Symposium from on March 17th, 2021 and this year we're moving completely virtual! With this symposium, we will facilitate an environment that allows MD/PhD students to foster organic mentor-mentee relationships through sharing, reflecting, and learning.

The University of Toronto's MD/PhD program trains students with aspirations of becoming clinician-scientists, a role that balances medical practice with health research. Mentorship is key in successfully navigating this lengthy and highly individualized training path. Ultimately, we aim for these activities to allow students to identify potential mentors with whom they may carry relationships forward during their training and beyond.

Of note, we will be featuring a keynote address and Q&A from Dr. Gelareh Zadeh, Canada’s first female Chair of Neurosurgery who has been recently named among Canada's Top 25 Women of Influence, as well as a talk on the challenges and opportunities of transitioning into an Early Career Researcher by Dr. Adam Durbin, Assistant Member at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the Division of Molecular Oncology, Department of Oncology and UofT MD/PhD alumnus (1T0). We will also be hosting a speed networking session with 10 alumni mentors using the innovative Remo platform. This event has been kindly sponsored by U of T affinity partner , MBNA, and the University's Student Initiative Fund.
