Unfiltered at UTSG: Privilege and Oppression Literacy

Unfiltered Truth Talks is a drop-in program organized by the Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity Office (ARCDO) that gives students the opportunity to openly discuss issues relating to race, racism, anti-racism and intersections among other identities (such as faith, gender, sexuality, and others). We will be hosting this dialogue in collaboration with the Multi-Faith Centre.

In this session we will unpack the terms privilege and oppression in the context of having difficult conversations around lived experiences and structural inequality. We will also discuss the ethics of activism, calling in versus calling out and the politics of taking up space during these difficult conversations. This dialogue will be primer for a series of workshops on unpacking and weaponizing privilege MFC will host in the winter semester.

Please join us for light refreshments and insghtful discussion as we unpack these important topics.

Date: Nov 22nd, 5-6:30pm
Location: Multi-Faith Centre, Multi-Purpose Room 2nd floor
