The U.S.-based Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) has named Darina Landa, the Faculty of Medicine’s Executive Director of Advancement, to its inaugural Forty Under 40 list.

The Forty Under 40 program is designed to recognize the future leaders within the healthcare philanthropy community. AHP is honoring these 40 young professionals because they are shaping the future of the health care development industry.

“Telling member stories and sharing best practices are at the core of what AHP is all about,” said Alice Ayres, AHP president & CEO of the Washington, D.C-based organization. “I’m so thrilled that through the Forty Under 40 program, members have shared the stories of our up-and-coming leaders—those making significant impact on the industry so early in their careers.”

Ms. Landa has held progressively senior roles since joining University of Toronto’s globally ranked Faculty of Medicine in 2010. Under her leadership, the Faculty of Medicine recently surpassed an ambitious $500 million Boundless campaign goal, representing fully a quarter of U of T’s overall $2 billion initial fundraising goal.

She has expanded the pipeline for alumni and annual giving, activated new audiences through re-imagined events and engagement strategies, and developed a robust portfolio of principal and major gift donors.

Prior to joining U of T, Ms. Landa oversaw fundraising events and new business development for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. She will be recognized at the 2018 AHP Annual International Conference October 17-20 in San Diego.

The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) is an international professional organization dedicated exclusively to development professionals who encourage charity in health care organizations. AHP's 4,500 members represent more than 2,200 health care facilities around the world. They collectively raise more than $11 billion each year for community health services.
