Brown Bag Lunch: Gender Expression and Gender Identity in the Classroom
In our lunchtime discussion, we will take time to reflect on our understandings of gender identity and gender expression and consider how our teaching practices are shaped by these. Part of our discussion will focus on how our teaching practices may have changed over time, been affected by challenges or questions or through new insights gained from colleagues or students in relation to gender identity and expression. We will talk about misgendering in the classroom and how we can and do respond to it.

- How do our expectations of gender expression and identity shape our teaching?
- How have your expectations of gender expression and identity been challenged in the classroom? How have these challenges impacted your practices as a teacher?
- How can/how do we learn about student experiences of gender expression and identity in classrooms?
