SpineFEST

The University of Toronto Spine Program conducts SpineFEST, a key educational program, in June each year. SpineFEST is a clinical and preclinical spine research day to disseminate knowledge of innovations and advances in spine care and research in both orthopaedic surgery and neurosurgery.

In the symposium, our world renowned invited professor and keynote speaker, Dr. Daniel Riew, will be featuring post-operative patient with persistent recurrent symptoms. Spine faculty will also be enriching the day with their updates and perspectives on spine cervical deformity and myelopathy and its management and evaluation. They will present outcomes in surgery for degenrative cervical melopathy, and share novel assessment techniques for degenerative cervical myelopathy.

The day will encompass multiple sessions with interesting faculty and trainee presentations and discussions:

Session 1 will provide several presentations focused on controversies and complexities in cervical spine diagnosis and management, there will be discussion about the role and timing of surgery for traumatic central cord syndrome, spine clearance in the trauma patient.

Session 2 will feature the economic and patient-based analysis of the value of surgery of degenerative cervical spine meyolpathy. The session also will tap into perspectives on spine surgery fellowship education - competence based training in Canada and beyond .

The day will include e-Poster Presentations & Judging.
