Special Panel Discussion on Research and Innovation

As part of the Fields Annual General Meeting, the panel will discuss ways in which Canada can reverse an apparent innovation decline (based on OECD metrics), and take up a leading role for scientific and technological innovation in the future. Mathematical sciences have a key role to play in Canada’s competitive advantage, and the panel will explore (possibly divergent) views from a panel of innovators, business leaders and researchers. This panel will be moderated by Arvind Gupta (UBC), and will feature Vivek Goel of the University of Toronto, William Janeway of Warburg Pincus, Ilse Treurnicht of MaRS, and Michael Zerbs from Scotiabank as panelists. Introduction by the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science. The panel discussion is open to the public - all are welcome to attend.
