ABOUT
Dr. Arun Ravindran, from the Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto, and Akwatu Khenti, from the Office of Transformative Global Health, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, are pleased to present an inaugural global mental health conference to take place in Toronto from MAY 6 to 8, 2015.

There is growing acknowledgement of the urgent need for concerted action to tackle global mental health issues. Canada responds to this need and plays a strong role in global mental health, but as a country where 1 in 5 people experience a mental health or addiction problem each year, we ask:

What can we learn from global mental health doers and how can we build a two-way, glo-cal strategy that is relevant for Canada?

PURPOSE
From May 6 to 8, global mental health experts and doers from different fields will come together to map Canada’s footprint in this evolving field and discuss the connection between global and local activities. The energy and insights from leading global and local experts and up-and-comers will be constructively harnessed to develop the first ever Canadian Global Mental Health Network aiming to mobilize and centralize glo-cal activities.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This conference is intended for health care practitioners, researchers, community leaders, policymakers, legal professionals, media persons, students and any others involved in global mental health. All those interested are encouraged to attend to help shape this emerging glo-cal network.

**There will also be a special film screening of Heaven on Earth on the evening of May 7th followed by Q & A with film creator Deepa Mehta and Dr. Suvendrini Lena, CAMH
